9 Months Old!!

I could cry at how fast this little girl is growing up! Can it really be 9 months ago that she was born? REALLY!? She is only three months away from her first birthday, it's crazy!

She had her 9 month check up this morning and I was so happy that she didn't have to get any shots. Her doctor says that she looks really good and is such a grown up girl! She is at a year developmentally, she weights 20.15lbs which puts her in the 80%, she is 29in long putting her at 95% and her head circumference is 48in which puts her at 99%!!
We gotta give all the credit for that one to her daddy! She must have a lot of brains filling that giant head of hers:) LOL He once again said that she is going to be a really tall girl. I just hope that she finds a really tall boy someday.

She is really cruising around the house now, crawling every place that she can. She is also getting really good at using the furniture to walk. She even will take a step or two free handed, but there has to be a couch or something to grab on to close by. She babbles a bunch too, ma-ma-ma's, da-da-da's, ba-ba-ba's are very common and she has started Nu-nu-nu's/Ne-ne-ne's which cracks me up because I think she is trying to say no. When she see's pictures or reflections of her self she shrieks in delight, and recognizes other babies and cats and dogs when looking in books. She still is lacking hair but what she does have seems to be getting a little thicker and really blond.
She still only had the two teeth but when we were at the doctor he showed me her gums and you can really see the ridges of her top teeth so those should be here soon! I just started letting her attempt to feed herself with a spoon and she is getting better at using her sippy cup. She was so pleased that I let her use a spoon, I think she really liked doing it herself!

Illness update

We have definitely had our share of sicknesses in the house and with family! Addison really seems to be getting over her croup well. She only has a stuffy nose, which came back so I am hoping it's not the start of something else. I on the other hand have been sick since the 28th of December. I was feeling a lot better after seeing the doctor last Monday and taking the Amoxicillin she prescribed. Then on Saturday I woke up feeling terrible again! My sinuses felt like they were going to explode and I could barely take the pressure. Sunday was a little better and today seems to be better still. Fingers crossed that this is the end of the longest illness I can remember. This was not how I wanted to start my year but I am ready for it to be better. My parents were both sick with some sort of cold too. Then my dad ended up getting shingles on top of it! Also my father in law is sick too! What a bang we all made to start 2010. Lets pray that we all get 100% better and have a healthy rest of the year.

Crouppy New Years

Well the New Year has already started out very eventful! Addison woke up in the middle of the night last night barely able to breathe! She has been dealing with a runny nose since last Sunday and seemed to be getting better until yesterday. In a complete panic I called 411 trying to get the number for a pediatric urgent care place that I saw close to the house to see if they were open late night. To my luck they couldn't seem to find the place I was talking about so I threw Addi in the car and Kyle and I drove to the regular urgent care around the corner. They of course were closed. I thought urgent care was 24 hours?? Anyways I said forget about it and go to the hospital. When we got there they put us back to see the doctor right away. They kept on trying to get her oxygen levels with that little clamp looking thing that you put on your finger, Did they really think an 8 month old is going to keep something like that on!? She fought with it for a long time and then they tried it on her toes and it finally worked. The doctor came in and listened to her lungs and ordered a breathing treatment. When we were attempting the breathing treatment she kept on fidgeting trying to get away from the fog that was coming out. She didn't seem to like it at all but I was glad that I didn't have to keep a mask on her mouth, which I know wouldn't have worked with her. After the treatment the doctor came in and said that its looking like she has either RSV or Croup. After evaluating her a little longer and giving her a steroid treatment for her lungs, they came to the conclusion that it was croup. Croup is a virus in the lungs just above the vocal cords. It makes the throat inflamed and makes it hard to breathe. They can't give any meds for it since it's a virus so I have to keep her room very humidified (which is hard since the humidifier that we have is mine from when I was a baby, so it's ancient now) and sit with her in the bathroom with the hot water on full blast so she can breathe in the steam. My poor little girl feels terrible and her cough sounds like a sick dog barking. Breaks my heart to see her like that but considering all that is going through she woke up this morning in a pretty decent mood. Lets all pray that she gets better soon!
