Crouppy New Years
Well the New Year has already started out very eventful! Addison woke up in the middle of the night last night barely able to breathe! She has been dealing with a runny nose since last Sunday and seemed to be getting better until yesterday. In a complete panic I called 411 trying to get the number for a pediatric urgent care place that I saw close to the house to see if they were open late night. To my luck they couldn't seem to find the place I was talking about so I threw Addi in the car and Kyle and I drove to the regular urgent care around the corner. They of course were closed. I thought urgent care was 24 hours?? Anyways I said forget about it and go to the hospital. When we got there they put us back to see the doctor right away. They kept on trying to get her oxygen levels with that little clamp looking thing that you put on your finger, Did they really think an 8 month old is going to keep something like that on!? She fought with it for a long time and then they tried it on her toes and it finally worked. The doctor came in and listened to her lungs and ordered a breathing treatment. When we were attempting the breathing treatment she kept on fidgeting trying to get away from the fog that was coming out. She didn't seem to like it at all but I was glad that I didn't have to keep a mask on her mouth, which I know wouldn't have worked with her. After the treatment the doctor came in and said that its looking like she has either RSV or Croup. After evaluating her a little longer and giving her a steroid treatment for her lungs, they came to the conclusion that it was croup. Croup is a virus in the lungs just above the vocal cords. It makes the throat inflamed and makes it hard to breathe. They can't give any meds for it since it's a virus so I have to keep her room very humidified (which is hard since the humidifier that we have is mine from when I was a baby, so it's ancient now) and sit with her in the bathroom with the hot water on full blast so she can breathe in the steam. My poor little girl feels terrible and her cough sounds like a sick dog barking. Breaks my heart to see her like that but considering all that is going through she woke up this morning in a pretty decent mood. Lets all pray that she gets better soon!

Christmas 2009!!!
Addisons first Christmas was wonderful!! She was in such a good mood Christmas Eve and Day that I don't think it could have been much better! I think that she really enjoyed the time with all her Grandparents and they enjoyed her too (naturally)! I tried to remind her that the main reason for the celebration was the birth of Jesus Christ, but of course she is too young to understand. She got a ton of wonderful gifts from everyone including Santa! What a spoiled and loved little girl we have! I tried my best to document every moment whether I video recorded it or took photos. I hope she enjoys watching herself as a little baby when she is older. I had dinner at our house on Christmas Day and made Kyle's favorite, Ham. We had my parents, Kyle's dad and Dolores, and a family friend Larry over for dinner. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food so I can safely say that I have another holiday dinner under my belt! We hope you all had a wonderful and safe Christmas!

No Christ in Christmas!!??
So I am hearing more and more about how people are trying to make Christmas not about Christ! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? What do they think its about then? Santa Clause? It makes me really sad that society it trying to take religion out of everything. It is what this country stood on all the way up until now. Who thinks they have the right to change it? They take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance and now they are making it just the Holidays and not Christmas. I am going to make sure that Addison grows up in a world that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ and that God is in all that we do. I don't ever want her to feel that it is wrong to believe in religion and God, or feel ashamed to wish someone a MERRY CHRISTMAS! Who is with me? :)

8 Months Old And On The Move!!
Addison must have ants in her pants because she never slows down anymore! (unless she decides that it's time for a nap) She has officially learned to crawl and loves to pull herself up on anything that she can possible reach her little hands on! She wants to stand all day long and even gets gutsy and lets go HANDS FREE for a few seconds until she plops down on the ground, usually on her behind but sometimes on her face! She seems to not really mind the face plants and just wants to get back to standing faster than she fell. She is a little wiggle worm and is constantly on the move. I am feeling pretty confident in saying that by the end of the month she will probably have started walking without using the couch to guide her. Her newest goal is to figure out how to scream at the highest pitch she can find.
She sits and screams and you can hear her voice give out when she hits a pitch that she can't get to yet. It's not the crying type of screaming it's just the lets get my vocal cords to develop as loud as they can type. She loves it and is so pleased with herself when she can get that shrill squeak out. It's hilarious.
I think that she is really getting excited for Christmas. She loves to look at the lights (as we saw when her Aunt Andrea took us to Zoo Lights last night)
and she also opened her first Christmas gifts last weekend and had a good time figuring out what is in the package and how do I get it out and Oh this box and bag that the gift came in is super cool too! She also attended her buddy Oskars
first birthday party. She isn't as interactive with other babies as I thought she would be but she hasn't had that much interaction with kids in the first place. She seemed to have a good time though and loved her first taste of chocolate frosting. She almost broke skin trying to get the last bit of it off my finger! Then she had a good screaming in joy episode shortly after which I swear was a side effect of the chocolate! It like she got a sugar rush and couldn't handle the excitement:) I can't wait until her first Christmas!
